Gift Boxes to Colour and Make: A Year of Celebrations by Eilidh Muldoon is a Colouring Book with 24 small boxes to colour, make and seal with the included stickers. The cover is paperback and is mostly aqua and white with splashes of pink, white and gold foiling. It is sized larger than most colouring books. On the inside cover there are instructions on how to make up the gift boxes with easy to follow instructions and diagrams. They are very simple to make and measure approximately 12cm x 10cm x 6cm.

The pages are perforated so you can remove them from the book easily and the edges of the boxes are perforated well to enable you to press them out easily. All the fold lines are scored so they are easy to fold. Each box has a different design on the front, with a “Coloured for you by” box with a line underneath for you to write your name on so no-one will be in any doubt that you have coloured them. This will form the underneath of the box. There are matching motifs on each of the long sides with a different but related design on both of the small sides. There are also decorative designs to colour on the inside and top flaps. Nosy Crow make beautifully and thoughtfully designed and well-produced books and these lovely little gift boxes will beautifully compliment their cards and envelopes books if you have any of those.

The Boxes themselves have a variety of designs to suit various occasions. There are two Easter themed ones with rabbits and Eggs, two Christmas themed with christmas trees, Robins and Snowmen, one for new year with fireworks, some themed for men with boats, cars. There are also designs with kites, cakes, balloons, stars, but the majority have small cute animals, Butterflies, Bees, Birds, fish and Flowers on and so would be ideal for Birthdays, Get Well Soon, and other occasions, all perfectly sized for a small gift for family, friends, neighbours and colleagues.

On the reverse, which when folded will form the inside of the box, there is a central motif which picks up the theme or repeats a motif from the front of the book, surrounded by a small repeated wallpaper type design such as small hearts, shells or flowers.

The last page of the book has 24 round gold foil and white stickers to seal your boxes with, and have “to” and “from” with space for you to write both your recipient and your name on and a tiny motif.

On the inside back cover there are three simple recipes to give you ideas for gifts to make and put inside your boxes. Peppermint Chocolate Truffles, Gingerbread Men and Coconut Macaroon. However you could just as easily fill with Sweets, chocolates or biscuits,  jewellery, tree Decorations or another small gift just for a few ideas. These also are fantastic paired with coloured greetings cards from any of The Colouring Book of Cards and Envelopes books, of which there is also A Year of Celebrations one. It’s a lovely book and a wonderful idea and I highly recommend it.

I chose to colour a christmas box with a robin and snowman design in fine – liner pens , but I think I will probably colour others with glitter gel pens as I think they will add a lovely touch. Here is a selection of photographs of the same box taken from different angles and open. It took a while to colour, but you could most likely colour one in an evening. It will definitely keep you entertained, and the designs are just detailed enough. You could most likely colour one in an evening.
