Darth Vader and Family Colouring Book by Jeffrey Brown is a small-sized colouring book at only 21.5 x 21.5 cm. It is both glue and stitch-bound. The illustrations are all single pages and framed so they do not go into the spine. They are also single-sided so all you alcohol marker fans I’m glad to say this is one you’ll have no problems with. The cover is a matt-coloured image of one of the humourous cartoon illustrations from inside the book. the paper is good quality smooth and white printed with clear black ink lines.
It is based on his best-selling books parodying ‘Star Wars’. I’d actually never seen his books before but immediately I was drawn to it being a ‘Star Wars’ fan (who isn’t?) and begged the publishers to send me a copy – I was not disappointed. It is hilarious and full of puns any ‘Star Wars’ fan will immediately get alongside Jeffrey’s fun cartoon drawings featuring the characters including Luke and Leia Skywalker as children.
There are illustrations such as Darth, Luke and Leia sitting on a bench eating ice cream, Leia cutting heart shapes into ‘dad’s’ cloak, Darth trying to convince Luke that a Jar Jar Binks “isn’t the toy you’re looking for”, Luke ‘using the force’ to get the cookie jar down which is out of his reach, Leia bringing her boyfriend round for tea telling him to “behave yourself or my dad will totally kill you”, Darth telling Luke not to eat with his fingers and “use the fork, Luke” and even joining the kids in a spot of colouring (picture on the front cover) and even more besides.
I absolutely love it. It is nice, easy colouring (not one for lots of shading and blending) for easy relaxation with a humourous twist and ‘Star Wars’ fans of any age will love it too.
To colour this picture I just used cheap felt tip markers and a grey Prismacolor Premier Pencil to add the wall texture.
I was kindly sent a copy from the publisher, however all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own and not influenced by this fact.
