Sci-Fi Babes: A Cyber Glam Coloring Book by Stephanie A. Quinn is a very quirky and unique book. There are 30 illustrations on single-sided printer paper. Stephanie is self-published so it is Createspace paper which is thin, however it takes pencil well and if you place a spare sheet behind the one you are colouring it will stop it bleeding through to the next, and as it is one-sided you can use alcohol markers on it. It is glue-bound and non-perforated, however you could easily remove any pages with a Papercraft knife.
The illustrations are very unusual Sci-Fi women’s faces and you will either love or hate them. Some are line drawings, others are closer to grayscale as there is lots of shading and in places this is very black which will limit the colours you could use on these. I have to be honest I wasn’t a fan of this particular book – the illustrations just didn’t appeal to me, I found them far too weird.
I deliberately chose one with heavy shading to test how color would go over it, if you use a dark colour you should be ok but this was a particular feature I really disliked; it was far too black and heavy in places and I dislike when artists do this in colouring books as it limits my colour choices.
It’s one you will have to judge for yourself, if you like sci-fi or something different, this may be for you.
I was kindly sent a copy from the artist. However all comments are my own honest opinion and are not influenced by this fact.
