Just Add Color: Wildflowers

by Lisa Congdon

Published by Rockport (£7.99)

Just Add Color: Wildflowers by Lisa Congdon comprises of 30 illustrations to colour by Lisa Congdon. The naive style illustrations are  cheerful and simple making it ideal for a beginner, child,  or just someone who want something quick and simple to colour quickly and relax with for a short time. It is not aimed at more advanced colourists who will likely find the designs too simplistic.

There are Asters, Buttercups, Sunflowers,Bluebells, crocuses and more. Each picture is labelled with the name of the flower. It has single-sided prints on good quality thick white paper which is handily perforated for easy removal of your artwork. During the flipthrough I kept thinking that I had two-pages stuck together when I hadn’t. It also includes 4 full-colour images by Lisa.

As it is single-sided this is a good one to use for markers – the designs themselves would look great coloured in the bold colours of felt tip pens, yet the paper is toothy enough to take pencil well too.

It’s a good quality book with simple, fresh designs and I recommend it
